Time To Step Up To The Plate

Our country, including our leaders, need to step up to the plate.    About 1/3 of the homeless out there are actually veterans. It is apparent to me that if our country can send them to war, then they/we can take care that they never end up sleeping in the woods in this country due to not having a place to call home.

If the 200,000 veterans without a home tonight were properly cared for, the homeless population would drop dramatically, virtually overnight. To be sure, it is a complex problem involving traumatic experiences and severe injuries, often resulting in disabilities and mental problems that need to be addressed.   But we owe it to them, even if they don’t ask.   Many of them do ask but don’t get what they need.     Shame on us.
